Heroin
[edit]I didn't know she was addicted to heroin?
- She has got to be the hottest addict ever.
- Think about that statement a little.

Suggestions per Semi auto peer reviewer
[edit]The following suggestions were generated by a semi-automatic javascript program, and might not be applicable for the article in question.
- Please expand the lead to conform with guidelines at Wikipedia:Lead. The article should have an appropriate number of paragraphs as is shown on WP:LEAD, and should adequately summarize the article.[?]
- Character Count no spaces 7, 946 and Character count with spaces 9, 513 not including table.
- 1. Context - see Template:Biography
- 2. Characterization - appearance, age, gender, educational level, vocation or occupation, financial status, marital status, social status, cultural background, hobbies, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ambitions, motivations, personality, what the term refers to as used in the given context.
- 3. Explanation - deeper meaning and background.
- 4. Compare (similarities amongst models/actresses) and contrast (differences amongst herself and other models/actresses)- how she relates to other topics, if appropriate.
- 5. Criticism - include criticism if there has been significant, notable criticism. need to compare to other models, actresses, if appropriate.
- On Social Sciences and Society - Films - Actors, models, performers and celebrities compare this lead to those on passed articles. If the article is a feature article in the future or listed on a portal, only the lead is used to summarize the article and induce the reader to read further sections.
- If there is not a free use image in the top right corner of the article, please try to find and include one.[?] The image should be included in the infobox, with perhaps others added if they are available.
- If this article is about a person, please add Template:Infobox actor
{{persondata|PLEASE SEE [[WP:PDATA]]!}}
along with the required parameters to the article - see Wikipedia:Persondata for more information.[?] There is an infobox, however it should contain much more information. - Watch for redundancies that make the article too wordy instead of being crisp and concise. (You may wish to try Tony1's redundancy exercises.)
- While additive terms like “also”, “in addition”, “additionally”, “moreover”, and “furthermore” may sometimes be useful, overusing them when they aren't necessary can instead detract from the brilliancy of the article. This article has 11 additive terms, a bit too much.
- Please ensure that the article has gone through a thorough copyediting so that it exemplifies some of Wikipedia's best work. See also User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a.[?]
- Grammar "King in Sin City, the film adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel series. " This is not a sentence, but rather a sentence fragment.
- Grammar: Should this sentence "2005 saw King in a the independent black comedy Pretty Persuasion." use an a or the word the"
- Changed grammar: Try not to use contractions such as it's for it is. However this instance was changed to its for the proper form. Changed a to an before a word beginning with a vowel in two instances.
- Spelling: several spelling mistakes corrected.
- Family life should contain more information - parents names for instance. Schooling, siblings.
- Check out the What links here specialty page for wikipedia articles which link to Jaime King. In a section named See also list appropriate intneral wiki links in the Jaime King article to other articles for more information.
You may wish to browse through User:AndyZ/Suggestions for further ideas. Thanks, SriMesh | talk 05:50, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've gone and removed quite a bit of the redundant wording, and fixed the grammar problems you have listed. I also added the names of the parents, information about their separation, her sibblings names and the schools King attended. There has been a See Also section added, and more information in general that has been fixed. I created a Kyle Newman article to make less of the red links, and am currently in the process of trying to create more articles for that purpose. I'm attempting to gain a picture with permission from the author on flickr currently as well. -Lindsey8417 12:25, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Another GA review
[edit]This is confusing - it's new on WP:GAN as of Nov 13, but this page is only tagged with the failed review. Anyway,
- King's parents split amicably - divorced or merely separated?
- "One of the world's top fashion models", is puffery, and needs a better quality source than IMDB.com. If the NYTimes had said that, or Vogue, it would be OK. An anonymous IMDB editor, no.
- Done Removed entirely. -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- and was reputed to be named after Jaime Sommers - Come on we can do better than "reputed". Here is an interview where she says it outright. [1]
- Done Reworded as fact according to her interview. -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- In 1997, following the death of her boyfriend, younger brother of Mario Sorrenti, fashion photographer Davide Sorrenti (who at age 21 died of a kidney ailment that was thought to have been brought on by excessive heroin use)[7] she became sober. - a long and convoluted sentence. Rephrase and simplify, please.
- Done Rephrased: "In 1997, her boyfriend, twenty one year old fashion photographer Davide Sorrenti, had died from what was thought be a kidney ailment brought on by excessive heroin use.[7] Following his death, King became sober,[8] and went to rehabilitation at age nineteen for her addictions to both heroin and alcohol.[25]" -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- King was rumored to have dated Sean Lennon, but she denied the rumors while on The Howard Stern Show. - is this really important? People date people. Famous people date famous people. Why is this particular date or rumor particularly interesting, especially if it's false?
- Done Removed entirely. -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- She was rumored to be linked with - same question. If they appear together on shows, that's at least something, just rumours make us more of a gossip magazine than an encyclopedia. In fact, I'd argue against listing people she's dated unless there was something particularly important or notable about the relationship. Being engaged is important; a date, or even several dates, is no big deal.
- Done Removed rumors entirely. -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- King is a fan of the music of ... - so how does this make her different from anyone else, and won't it change next month when the next hot band puts out a hit single? Seems like insignificant trivia. (In fact, in that interview I link to above she says "what I’ve been really listening to the most lately is Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra." :-P).
- Done Removed entirely. -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- The World War II epic romance ... - Pearl Harbor (film) is important as her first non bit part role, but it wasn't a starring role, whether she was brilliant or terrible wouldn't have influenced the movie's performance that much. Don't go on about it for 3 sentences.
- Done Shortened. -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Young Hollywood Awards - wikilink? Do we have an article for that?
- There isn't an article, but should it be wikilinked regardless? -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Four Faces of God, Lone Star State of Mind - make links. If they're major movies we should have articles on them.
- Done Linked and will create articles soon. -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- ensamble cast - ensemble
- Done Typo fixed. -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Both films had negative critical and box office success. - er negative success? How about failed?
- Done Changed to "Both films had negative critical and box office reception." -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- White Chicks was also negatively reviewed by critics - that's OK as is, but what about her appearance specifically? Did the critics say she also stank, or that she was the film's one redeeming feature? And if she stank, was it because she was unconvincing, or shallow, or... ?
- The Acting section is quite thorough. Maybe even too thorough - perhaps remove some of the lesser roles? Especially the sentences that don't say any more than the information in the filmography table?
- For example "In 2006, King appeared in the films The Alibi as Heather and True True Lie as Nathalie. " If it said "appeared in The Alibi as Heather, whom film critic Roger Ebert said 'stole the show with her artful portrayal of a vampire defense attorney'" that might be worth something, but as is it's just two lines in the table.
- King has starred in various music videos - a reliable source for the list? Not strictly necessary, since I guess the videos themselves can be sources, but it would be nice in case a bored ten year old decides to add five more to the list, and we have to figure out which are really hers and which aren't.
- Done Added reference to IMDB page, and perhaps references to the actual videos themselves (would an official youtube video work?) -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- The references need improvement. For just one example:
Clinton denouces 'heroin chic'. telgraph.co.uk. Retrieved on October 7, 2007.
- When was it written? Who was the author? Telegraph is misspelled, and is actually a fairly famous newspaper, we have an article on it, Daily Telegraph. Wikilink. Same with the other refs.
- Images? She's a model - if any biographies cry out for images, those of models do. There are something like 138 images of her on Flickr, pick one that does look like it was taken by the Flickr user, and not stolen from a film or magazine, and send them an email. If they don't respond in a few days, or say no, try the next. With so many, one will say yes, almost certainly. I normally write:
“ | Hi, I'm a volunteer editor for Wikipedia, a free online encyclopedia project. We have an article about Bar Refaeli that doesn't have a free picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bar_Refaeli
I noticed you have an excellent Flickr photo of her at http://flickr.com/photos/karinbar/262576029/ If you could change the license on this photo to Creative Commons Attribution or Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike, we could use it in our article. You would be credited as the photographer. The Wikipedia is currently the #9 Web site in the world, so that means a lot of people would be able to see the photo. About half of the people I ask agree. (User:AnonEMouse/Images gives my successes and ratio.) As you'll notice that one worked. :-) --AnonEMouse (squeak) 19:03, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- I had previously messaged a user at flickr, however, I got no response. Today I messaged a different one who will hopefully send a response. -Lindsey8417 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
In short, pretty good. Putting on hold until these issues are answered, which I think they can be in the week suggested. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 19:03, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Well done! Everything except the image. Reads much better now. Passing to GA. Tell me more about the image - maybe I can help. Which Flickr users did you email? If you say which, you tried and which are left, we can probably split up the ones which are left, and I'll send a few requests myself. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 17:05, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

I have given this a B because, although short, it's well-referenced and covers its subject as well as can be expected. It wouldn't need too much expansion or cleanup to be a GA IMO. Daniel Case 16:08, 2 May 2007 (UTC) |

GA Reassessment
[edit]- This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Jaime King/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.
A request by Coffeeandcrumbs has been put forward to review this article and I agree that it needs some work to remain a GA. The major issue is the lack of citations, but there are also prose issues (particularly in the personal life section). It unfortunately has not been well maintained since it passed in 2007 and needs updating as her last role mentioned in prose is from 2012. Original nominator Lindsey8417 no longer edits and I can't find another significant contributor. Aircorn (talk) 19:29, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
